John (patient) John is my 28 year old son who suffered severe brain injury following a road traffic accident in Spain in 2005. He was flown home after major surgery and admitted to Newcastle General Hospital where he spent two months recovering. |

Jessica (patient) Jessica was born prematurely at just 28 weeks. Due to immature lung development and very low birth weight she was unable to breath on her own and needed additional support from a ventilator. This assisted with breathing until Jessica was then diagnosed with (CLD) Chronic Lung Disease caused by prolonged high pressure ventilation meaning that she was likely to require some assistance with her breathing for a longer period of time than first thought. |
